Father Charged After 4 Year Old Fatally Shoots Himself

CHESTNUTHILL TOWNSHIP -- Months after a 4 year old died after shooting himself at a home in Monroe County, his father has been charged in connection with his death.

In June, Bentley Koch shot himself in the face at a home along Ash Lane near Brodheadsville.

On Tuesday, his father Ryan Koch was taken into custody and charged with involuntary manslaughter.

According to troopers, Koch admitted leaving the gun on a shelf in the living room of his home and getting high on marijuana the night before the shooting.

Koch is locked up in Monroe County.

    I’m sure that father feels absolute despair and sorrow but guns have to be handled carefully and put away securely As a father with two sons who owns many firearms I always made sure my firearms were secure and out of the reach of young children

      Yeah, but – unfortunately there are some people in this world feel differently about that. Not saying anything specifically about the father in this instance, but some people view children as an annoyance and inconvenience.
