SCRANTON -- Inspectors are looking for the cause of an early morning fire in Scranton.

A police officer driving by was the first one to notice flames coming from the second floor of the place on McCarthy Street just after 12 a.m. on Monday.

The man who lives there wasn't home.

City fire inspectors are expected to look for what sparked the flames here in Scranton.

I just want to clarify this headline. The fire wrecked the home? As in……..vandalized? Or, took out a load-bearing wall, perhaps? “Gutted” is probably a better description but, hey, I remember reading submissions for Creative Writing, and nothing surprises me, anymore.
