SHAMOKIN -- Investigators are looking into why a grocery store in Northumberland County burned.
A picture from The Daily Item shows flames tearing through Penn Jersey Food Mart in Shamokin around 10 pm. on Monday.
Smoke was still pouring from the building hours later.
The people who lived in two apartments above the store got out safely.
The building is a total loss.
Shamokin Street from Shakespeare to Race Street is closed after this fire in Northumberland County.
