MAYBERRY TOWNSHIP — A man is dead after a crash on Route 54 near Elysburg.
State police said Donald Bowers, 29, of Hughesville lost control around 5:15 p.m. Monday. His car slid into oncoming traffic and was hit by an SUV coming the other way.
Bowers was pronounced dead at the scene by the Montour County coroner.
There is no word on the condition of the other driver.
Crews shut down Route 54 between Sharp Ridge Road in Rush Township and Sleepy Hollow Road in Ralpho Township while police investigated and the scene was cleared.
The road reopened around 8:30 p.m.
