RALPHO TOWNSHIP -- Police in Northumberland County have charged a man with a bank robbery near Elysburg.

Authorities say Richard Snyder, 26, of Shamokin demanded money from a teller at Santander Bank near Elysburg Monday afternoon.

Officers tell us a man in dark clothing with a scarf covering his face walked into Santander Bank on West Valley Avenue around 1:30 p.m. Monday. He put a backpack on the counter and ordered the teller to put money in the bag. The teller put some cash into the bag and the robber took off.

A witness saw the robber hop into a getaway car and alerted police.

Officers spotted the suspected vehicle a short time later at the intersection of Routes 487 and 61.

Snyder is charged with robbery, theft, and other related charges.

According to The Daily Item, the alleged getaway driver, David Wengrenovich, 26, of Mount Carmel, has also been charged. Wengrenovich was charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, theft, receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia.
