ALTOONA -- A funeral service was held Thursday for fallen Pennsylvania State Trooper Landon Weaver.
The long procession of police cars ended on the main road outside the Blair County Convention Center in Altoona. A line of troopers in black and gray representing all barracks in the state stood in silence in the parking lot as the procession carrying Trooper Landon Weaver and his family to the facility stopped outside the main door.
Weaver was killed in the line of duty December 30 while responding to a domestic call.
Police say a man named Jason Robison shot and killed Weaver Friday in Huntingdon County as the trooper talked with him about violating a protective order.
The next day, police tracked Robison hiding in an unoccupied mobile home. Police say they shot and killed Robison when he threatened officers and refused orders.
Weaver's death reminded law enforcement officers across Pennsylvania and the nation how dangerous their work is.
In the eulogy, Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Tyree Blocker told mourners, "I hope we all find some solace that God has a plan. And God's plan includes a man the caliber of Landon Weaver."
Governor Tom Wolf added, "every single one of us lost a hero. He was a good Pennsylvanian. We appreciate what he did for all of us and we will all miss him."
Trooper Weaver had just graduated from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy last June.
The 23-year-old leaves behind a wife.
