LUZERNE -- Luzerne County's former director of elections is locked up for allegedly threatening a state representative.

Police say Leonard Piazza III threatened state Representative Aaron Kaufer.

Officers in Luzerne borough say Piazza called Kaufer's office on Friday screaming because he was denied social security disability.

At one point, police say Piazza said, "This needs to get fixed or I'm going to start going crazy," and "Someone's going to die."

Piazza was fired from his job as Luzerne County director of elections in 2012 for what county leaders called at the time "willful misconduct."

He was hired as an election supervisor in a county in Georgia in 2014.

Piazza is facing charges terroristic threats and harassment. He is locked up in the Luzerne County jail after a judge revoked his bail.
