EAST STROUDSBURG -- Pocono Medical Center plans to lay off dozens of nurses.

The head of the nurses union confirms 61 nurses at the hospital in East Stroudsburg were given layoff notices.

It's not clear when the layoffs will take effect.

Pocono Medical Center says the job cuts are the result of a shift from inpatient to outpatient care and an attempt to provide better care at a lower cost.

After merging with LVH!!! How are they doing good by their employees by canning them?!!!!
That place is so backwards….nice Christmas presents to those poor souls. Too many suits up there who have pointless positions…the cuts should start with all of them who cover each other’s butts! Shame on you!

so the hospital is trying to save money at the expense of the nurses and the public? that money they want to save won’t translate into savings for patients but it will probably mean pocono medical center will pay out more in the form of lawyers and payouts for the lawsuits when patients get hurt because they are under staffed
