HONESDALE -- There are lots of ways people help others have a Merry Christmas, but one man takes his charity event to an extreme every year in Wayne County.
Michael G. Stanton of Bold Gold Media took a shower outside on Main Street in Honesdale for three hours Saturday. The temperature was around 24 degrees.
His shower for charity--now in its 15th year--helps raise thousands of dollars for children in need during the holiday season.
Stanton's coworkers took donations while he took a downright cold shower.
"It's a great cause. For three hours or four hours, I can be cold or freeze on Main Street. There are kids who need warm coats. They're looking for shoes or boots," Stanton said.
The shower for charity raised $20,000 this year. In total, over $210,000 has been raised for the Wayne County Children's Christmas Bureau.
