FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP -- A school district in Columbia County is getting ready for its biggest football game of the year.

The Southern Columbia Tigers play in the Class AA state title game Saturday in Hershey against Steel Valley High School from the Pittsburgh area.

"We have great fans," said senior Nicholas Fetterman.  "I couldn't ask for better fans. The community really comes together for us. They always have fan buses and pep rallies for us, they're really supportive."

"It's to the point I'm doing extra chores around the house just to keep myself occupied to keep my mind off the game because I'm so excited for it, I really am," said senior Sydney Damgaard.

Last year, the Tigers beat Aliquippa High School, which is also near Pittsburgh, to win the state title.

The team wants a repeat. Southern Columbia and Steel Valley are both undefeated.

"Being senior year and this is it after Saturday, it would be awesome to go out on top," said senior Drew Michaels.

"That's all I can think about. That would be amazing to win tomorrow. It would make my dreams come true for sure," said Fetterman.

"Shows that we can win without all the seniors from last year and it means that us seniors this year, we can do the same thing as last year," said Damgaard.

The football team has such a big following, and they tell Newswatch 16 they expect the same thing from their fans in Hershey."

"I think it's pretty intimidating because we always travel well. We always fill up the bleachers. Even at Hershey Park , we fill up the majority of the bleachers. We look over and a lot of the teams traveling from Pittsburgh, they barely have any fans," said Michaels.

The game starts at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hersheypark Stadium.
