WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP -- Donating a new toy gave people a chance to ice skate at Mohegan Sun Arena.

The 13th annual Toys for Tots Open Skate was held Tuesday near Wilkes-Barre.

People brought a new, unwrapped toy for a child who would otherwise not have gifts on Christmas.

That was their ticket to the arena's only open skate session of the year.

"Some children who don't have the money to get to actually get the toys for Christmas. It's really important that they actually do get presents on Christmas," said Mia Vandenberg of Mountain Top.

Families at the arena could also tour the facility and take photos with Santa.

The open skate session wrapped up around 8 p.m.
