AVOCA -- Some firefighters took a break from battling flames to play some charity football.

Crews from the Avoca Fire Department faced off against a team from the Pittston Township Fire Department in Avoca on Saturday.

The event raised over $2,000 to be used to buy toys for children for Christmas.

"We try and help people as much as we can. We just want to put our faces out there to help more kids. Christmas time there are a lot of kids that don't get Christmas gifts, and some kids do and they just don't have the ability to, so we are willing to do what we can to help them out," said organizer Chris Collins.

For anyone wondering, the team from the Avoca Fire Department won the game.
