GIRARDVILLE -- Police and a forensic team blocked off part of North John Street in Girardville Friday evening. It was a scene that was very unsettling for some neighbors.

"I noticed there was a cop car right there at the end of the road. I didn't really hear anything I thought someone was getting pulled over, I had no clue something like this was going on," said Delton Bolton.

State police say when they entered a home on the 100 block of North John Street, they found a man dead inside and a two year old boy crying in a nearby crib.

The Schuylkill County coroner identified the man as the homeowner, 57-year-old James Fetterolf.

There has been no determination as to when or how he died, but police are investigating.

A forensics team from Reading was also called to the scene to investigate.

Newswatch 16 spoke with neighbors here who were stunned to hear of what happened so close to home.

"I'm shocked, I'm absolutely shocked that something like this is going on especially in a small community like this." said David Chaplis of Girardville.

Chaplis said James was a hard worker and someone who was always willing to help anyone.

"Busted his hump his whole life, worked had his own house, he had his own car, he could've had a better ending to what happened today, my thoughts and prayer go out to him and his family."
