CARBON COUNTY -- Despite the warmer than usual forecast some ski resorts in our area have opened up for the season.

Newswatch 16 hit the slopes at Big Boulder Mountain in Carbon County Friday.

The snowboarding hot spot opened its doors for the first time this season.

This season, the ski resort is holding a collection for local food pantries.

"They're having fun because one, they get to get out on the slope, which they are all very anxious to, but a lot of them are like 'wow this is really cool because we can give back," Heather Schifferbauer.

The ski resort is also a drop off site for "Toys for Tots."
