Millions across America and right here at home are starting their holiday haul. Wednesday marks the busiest travel day of the year.

Newswatch 16's Ryan Leckey spent the morning at Wilkes-Barre Scranton International Airport (AVP).  He teamed up with some airport leaders to tackle tips to help you maximize your time at airports this holiday season and find out where travelers are heading this Thanksgiving.

Management at the airport in Luzerne County have the following suggestions to help you prevent any travel trouble:

  • Connect With Your Airline - download their apps, stay up to date with flight information, check in online to save time at the airport.
  • For our area, keep tabs on flights at
  • Arrive at the airport two hours before your flight to allow ample time to get through security.
  • If you have questions, reach out to your air carrier via social media.

AAA reports that 48.7 million Americans are expected to travel this holiday, one million more than last year.  See more stats and facts here.
