EDWARDSVILLE -- Thanksgiving is only a few days away and an organization in Luzerne County made sure those who need it most have the makings of a Thanksgiving meal.

The Commission of Economic Opportunity along with lots of volunteers made up Thanksgiving meal baskets. They were distributed to low income families at the West Side Mall in Edwardsville Saturday afternoon.

Thousands of baskets including turkey, veggies, potatoes, and desserts were handed out.

"When I walked in here this morning this room was full, you couldn't hardly move, and a lot of people have come through and it's just, to watch them go out and see their faces say, 'I've got a Thanksgiving meal!' It's just awesome," said Deborah Dotter of Pittston.

The Commission of Economic Opportunity has now been giving away Thanksgiving meals for 37 years.
