SCRANTON -- Unseasonably warm temperatures greeted parade goers who welcomed Santa Claus and the holiday season in Scranton on Saturday.

It felt almost summerlike at Scranton's traditional kick off to the holiday season.

"The parade is awesome. It's an awesome time to be here, and it's really, really, really warm out. Surprising," said Harley Dietz of Lake Ariel.

It's no surprise that this year's Santa Parade in downtown Scranton may be the best attended. It makes sense since temperatures got close to 70 degrees. The only snow to be found was on the floats.

"It's beautiful out today. I came to see my baby in the Ragnacci School of Dance dancing today, and they are doing a great job," said Ann Jones of Scranton.

Moms and dads welcomed the warm weather while the kids waited to welcome someone in particular.

The parade bearing Santa's name has become a tradition for many families in Lackawanna County.

"There's so much candy. The cheerleaders are here. I got to see all my friends and my cousins. and there's a lot of people, and it's nice," said Brody Call of Archbald.
