LAKE HARMONY -- People in part of Carbon County gathered in protest of a proposed compressor station for the Penn East/UGI natural gas pipeline routed through the Lake Harmony area.

The gas companies put on a presentation for the crowd at the Split Rock Resort Town Center Tuesday night.

The group Save Carbon County and several dozen neighbors believe there are too many risks that come along with the proposed compressor station and gas powered turbines.

"One of the worst components of a pipeline is the compressor station. It emits tons of pollution every year. It is prone to explosions, prone to fire. It's a dangerous, noxious use to be placed in kidder Township," said Linda Christman, president of Save Carbon County.

Officials plan to hold another meeting November 29 to finish the presentation and let the public voice their concerns about the proposed compressor station before they vote on the proposal in Carbon County.
