LANSFORD -- A shelter for homeless veterans got a boost Thursday in Carbon County.

Members of the St. Vincent De Paul society stood outside Boyers Supermarket in Lansford asking shoppers to buy a canned item for Paul's House, a shelter in the Poconos.

Food isn't the only think being collected.

"We're collecting gently used clothing, and coats, and things like that. And cash donations are going towards things like sleeping bags and tents for the homeless veterans. And there's a lot of them in our own area, we found out through this organization," said Margaret Pelcheck.

Paul's House, located in Monroe County, helps homeless veterans find proper medical care, get job training and transition back into their own home.
