SUNBURY -- There is new information from police on the woman who was carried out of a restaurant in Sunbury over the weekend. Police have reason to believe she may have overdosed on heroin.

Sunbury police have still not located the people in the surveillance picture, but the woman's family came forward and said she is a heroin addict. Officers are treating this as a drug overdose but want to find the couple to make sure the woman is safe.

Sunbury police aren't sure exactly what happened inside the restaurant over the weekend, but they do know a woman walked inside, said she did not feel well, and walked into the ladies room.

About 15 minutes later, a man walked in, ordered food, went into the ladies room and carried the woman outside. Police were not sure if he kidnapped her, so the image was released to the media.

"We had a family who called in and said that was their daughter in the video and her boyfriend," said Sunbury Police Capt. Stephen Bennick.

Capt. Bennick told us the girl's family said the man in the video is their daughter's boyfriend and the two both have heroin addictions.

Police have not been able to find the couple but Bennick says the woman's family is very adamant that she overdosed on heroin. When police got to the restaurant, cold water was running in the ladies room.

"A lot of times when we get on scene of overdoses, that is what's going on, they're trying to revive the person. So that kind of leads us to believe that's what did occur."

"Naloxone (Narcan) is a drug that we've carried 25 years and it's nothing new to us," said EMS manager Chad Gavason.

Narcan is a drug that counteracts the effects of opiates. The Sunbury police department does not carry it but the Americus Hose Company does.

Gavason says in the last two years the price of Narcan has nearly tripled but his company has not seen an increase in usage.

"We've pretty much seen its use stay the same over the last five, six years."

The mayor of Sunbury was not able to tell us why police officers in Sunbury do not carry Narcan and phone calls to the administrative chief were not returned. If you have any information on the whereabouts of the woman in the picture, you are asked to call Sunbury police.
