DICKSON CITY -There were princesses, superheroes, games and tons of candy.

Procare Physical Therapy in Dickson City opened its doors to children for the grand opening of its Procare kids program.

Kids with special needs were able to have fun, as parents got a tour of the new facility.

"I think its nice for all the kids. It's better in this day and age than going house to house," said Karen McCann of Dickson City.

Procare kids treats issues related to growth and development for kids of all ages.

The new wing features a gym, two rooms for speech therapy and an occupational therapy room.

The staff is able to evaluate any issues and offer treatments to develop a child's motor and communication skills.

"Most of our children are special needs kids if they have one therapy they usually need another so children that have speech therapy might need occupational therapy,"  Claire Sciulara, occupational therapist at Procare.

Procare physical therapy hopes to give children a safe environment where they can develop their skills.

Organizers decided having the event around Halloween gave kids the chance to meet staff in costumes to help build relationships.

"It's important for him to write better to take notes at schools and improve at school so he's already doing well cognitively but the fine motor has to be there so he can take notes," said Laura Reahm of Roaring Brook Township.

Now kids can go when they're not in school to get the help they need.
