EAST STROUDSBURG – Youngsters at Notre Dame Elementary in East Stroudsburg learned lessons about electrical safety by watching a show on stage.

The students watched a play called, "Safety Detectives in Hot Pursuit."

PPL Electric teamed up with the National Theatre for Children to put on the play.

Students followed the detectives on stage as they tried to prevent electrical fires from happening.

"It was fun and exciting, it was just something to experience you wanted to learn," said Ellianna Caporusso, a student at Notre Dame Elementary.

Students learned that water and electricity don't mix, and that it's not safe to play around fallen wires.

"Safety is very important and this program will present it in a fun, relatable way. The kids get excited. They laugh about it yet they are learning very important things," said Alana Roberts, regional affairs director at PPL Electric.

The hope is for students to take what they learned from the play, and be safety detectives in their own homes.

"First, I'm going to ask my parents to check our cords then, if I have to plug something in, I'm going to make them help me," said Malcolm Naughton a sixth grader.

PPL electric plans to take the play to 20 different schools in our area over the next two weeks.
