HAZLETON — Hazleton’s police chief says patrols have been stepped up after a possible attempted abduction.

A woman told investigators a man wearing an orange face mask approached her and asked if her baby was a boy or a girl.

It happened Sunday night near the intersection of Broad and Wyoming streets.

Police say the man grabbed the stroller, but the woman screamed so he let go of the stroller and ran off in Hazleton.

Both the mother and child are okay.
