A four-day performing arts festival kicks off today, Thursday, September 29, in the Electric City.  It's all part of the second annual "Scranton Fringe Festival" that'll play out in various downtown venues.  WNEP-TV is a proud media sponsor of this event that's all about supporting and sharing the arts in this part of Lackawanna County.  Newswatch 16 Ryan Leckey got a preview of the event from one of the venues, the Afa Gallery along Lackawanna Avenue.

The Scranton Fringe Festival kicks off at 6 p.m. with a free preview party at the Scranton Cultural Center. You can learn more about the event, the shows, including which ones are kid-friendly, all at this link!

One of the event's emcees is Molly Balloons. Her work is featured at various festivals and on Instagram. Molly describes herself as a "self-inflated balloon artist." You can check out more of her art here!
