ROSS TOWNSHIP -- Lawsuits filed by the widows of two men killed at a township meeting three years ago in Monroe County have been dismissed by a federal judge.
James Laguardia and Jerry Kozic were shot and killed inside the Ross Township municipal meeting in 2013 when their neighbor Rockne Newell opened fire inside.
Last month, their widows filed wrongful death lawsuits against township officials, claiming the township was aware there could be violence at the meeting where their husbands were killed.
A federal judge dismissed the complaint following requests by the defendants including township officials and the Monroe County sheriff.
