OLD FORGE -- People came out to play a popular Italian game in Lackawanna County to help make some wishes come true.

Two local law firms partnered to host the inaugural bocce ball tournament at Arcaro and Genell in Old Forge to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Nearly two dozen teams faced off to help the foundation.

"We have 22 teams which is really unusual. It's a large tournament, and we could be here until as late as midnight," said Pamela Stets of Old Forge.

Money raised at the tournament will help the foundation grant wishes to two children from Lackawanna County with life-changing illnesses. Two-year-old Sabrina from Dunmore has musculoskeletal disease and wants to meet Big Bird from Sesame Street. Five-year-old Derek from Old Forge has megalocephaly and wants to visit Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

The tournament was hosted by Walker & Comerford Law and Gilbride & Vasquez.
