HARFORD TOWNSHIP -- The Harford Fair in Susquehanna County has lucked out with the weather this year considering the past two weeks have been hot, humid, and sticky.

During the middle of the day on the midway at the fair, the weather has not been unbearable for folks who came to enjoy everything the summer tradition has to offer.

Fair directors tell Newswatch 16 attendance is up 20 percent over this time last year.

"This is a lot of fun. It's a lot of fun for families. There are lots of things for people to do. It's a great time to get out and enjoy before school starts," said Andrea Sutton of Wyalusing.

The grand champion chickens sport their blue ribbons inside the poultry barn.

"It was a lot of hard work. I went to this fair since I was a baby and showed chickens since I was five years old," said Kailey Davis of Scranton who has won the top prize in the youth division for the third year in a row.

The tractor pull at the Harford Fair is one of the many things happening throughout the week to bring people young and old out to enjoy the agricultural things in the county, as well as amusements and of course, food.

"There's tacos, pizza, funnel cake, BBQ, all kinds of stuff," said Darlene Colwell of Windsor, New York.

Kids with the Mountain View School District band and chorus are chipping in to keep folks hydrated. Last year, the drink stand helped buy new choir robes.

"It's fun. We all have our own way of selling stuff. Sidney likes to sing and dance," said eighth grader Madison Hunter.

The Harford Fair runs through Saturday.
