FACTORYVILLE -- More than 100 runners gathered at Keystone College in Wyoming County to celebrate Christy Mathewson Day.

This was the 21st year in a row people from Factoryville and all over have come out to celebrate the baseball Hall of Fame legend.

There were many events including the annual big 6k run/walk which featured folks from ages 5 to 80.

All the money raised will benefit scholarships for students.

James Cole of Plymouth Township placed first in his age bracket and says even though it was hot, it’s nice that he can help the community.

“It’s awesome just getting out and getting together with everyone for a great cause. Keystone College puts on one of the best shows for the race and everything else. It's a great place to run,” Cole said.

Christy Mathewson grew up in Factoryville and went to Keystone Academy (now Keystone College). He went on to be one of the greatest pitchers in baseball history and was inducted into the Hall of Fame along with Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Honus Wagner, and Walter Johnson.
