LACKAWANNA COUNTY -- Basketball fans hit the hardwood to remember a young man from Lackawanna County who lost his life three years ago.

Folks gathered at Scranton Prep this morning for the Annual Cody Barrasse Memorial Basketball Tournament.

Cody died after he was hit by a car in 2013. His organs and tissues were donated to seven people.

Money raised at the tournament helps families of transplant recipients and benefits scholarship programs.

Cody’s brother, Joseph Barrasse, says the tournament is meaningful. "It's terrific. It helps keep my brother's memory alive. It means so much to me, my family to see so much of the community supporting us.”

A special event to raise awareness about organ donation is also scheduled to be held tonight.

Folks plan to gather tonight at the Ice Box in Scranton.
