JACKSON TOWNSHIP -- There is no shortage of wine flowing at Mountain View Vineyard & Winery near Stroudsburg. But it's not exactly free-flowing outside when it comes to rainfall this summer.
In fact, much of our area is in a drought watch.
"We live in central Pennsylvania and all the farmers are now struggling because the corn is not growing," said Rachelle Hopsicker of Alexandria.
"The entire month of July was really hot over 90 degree weather," said Linda Rice, co-owner of Mountain View Vineyard & Winery. "Typically for most farmers, that's a bad thing. But for the grape growing world, especially here in the northeast, that's a good thing."
That's right, according to the experts, droughts are good for wine grapes.
"It concentrates the sugars in the grape so you're going to get a much more flavorful intense wine," Rice added. She explained that the deep roots that can continually soak in any water long after the last rainfall.
