LACKAWANNA COUNTY -- Traffic on Interstate 81 in Lackawanna County was backed up for miles Thursday evening.

It was all because of multiple events on Montage Mountain.

The opening acts for the Luke Bryan concert started around 7 p.m.

Plus, the RailRiders' home game got underway at 5 p.m.

Tens of thousands of people were trying to take the same roads to Montage Mountain. Mix in normal rush hour traffic.

Mix in normal rush hour traffic and a backup stretched more than 5 miles.

State police, sheriff's deputies and local police were all on nearby roadways trying to deal with the traffic flow to the mountain .

Thursday afternoon, there was also a special Luke Bryan tailgate party. There was free music, food, and games at PNC Field.

People who got to the mountain early liked the idea of catching a shuttle to avoid long lines of traffic.

“It's a good thing, we were here early, we can get the shuttle up to the mountain, yeah,” said Lisa Russel of Scranton.

Local law enforcement will also help with traffic after Thursday night’s ballgame and concert.
