Call it the "Race to Give" in Monroe County!  The American Red Cross and the Pocono Raceway are teaming up once again this week for the 11th annual Blood Drive.  The event at the Tricky Triangle in Long Pond runs Thursday from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m.   Newswatch 16's Ryan Leckey popped by the track for a preview this morning.

To make an appointment to donate, type the keyword "POCONO" when you  click here or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).   All blood types are needed.

Here's what you need to know to donate according to the American Red Cross: "a blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental consent in Pennsylvania), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements."
