SCRANTON -- From the fireworks, to the music, thousands came out for the annual "Scrantastic Spectacular", a 4th of July festival featuring everything from bounce houses, to games, and oh so much food.

“I haven't been down to the courthouse yet this year. It means a lot. It's home, it's what Scranton is all about. I'm very proud to be someone from Lackawanna County, I really am,” said Joanne Cesare of Old Forge.

It's hosted by Lackawanna County, Entercom Communications, the City of Scranton, Prudential and the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic.

You'll find plenty of people who have been coming here since it all started five years ago, but you'll also run into people enjoying the whole experience for the very first time.

From 4 years old to 91, people of all ages came to Courthouse Square.

"You meet your neighbors, and it’s good fellowship, and everybody is different. You meet different people,” said Ruth Jones of Scranton, who came out with her friend Karen Yerke.

"I can see the fireworks from my house - she can too! But we came all the way to listen to the music too,” said Yerke, Taylor.

This is the 5th year for the 4th of July celebration at Courthouse Square. Before that, it was at the old stadium, but ask just about anybody at the Scrantastic Spectacular, and they’ll say this is a whole lot better.

“There’s a lot of food vendors, and it’s cozier than sitting at the stadium,” said Judy Damski, Dickson City.
