CONYNGHAM TOWNSHIP -- A community turned into a ghost town was celebrated Saturday on the 150th anniversary of its founding in Columbia County.

Folks who lived in Centralia came together at the American Legion Post a few miles from the place that was done in by an underground mine fire.

Some of the former residents made sure to be here to remember what it was like to grow up in Centralia.

“It's not like Centralia was, Centralia was a different type of town, everybody got together, it was just a neat place to grow up, I miss the heck out of it,” said Tom Hill, a former Centralia resident.

The state condemned Centralia in the early 90's and only a handful of people still live there.
