SCRANTON -- Lackawanna County officially took ownership of the former Globe building in Scranton.

Commissioners Pat O'Malley and Laureen Cummings signed the final paperwork Thursday to purchase the building on Wyoming Avenue from the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce for $1.3 million.

The county commissioners plan to renovate the building and bring most county offices under one roof. It will be called Lackawanna County Government Center at the Globe.

There is no word on when exactly the renovations will begin. They are expected to cost about $18 million.
