SCRANTON -- An excavating crew working at West Scranton Intermediate School came across some parts of bones Thursday morning.
Police say the workers were digging behind the school and found three or four bone pieces and then called police.
Police passed the bones on to the Lackawanna County coroner who could not immediately tell if the bones are human or that of an animal. They will be sent to a forensic pathologist for testing.
Police allowed the excavating crew to continue the project in west Scranton.
The coroner says test results may take a few weeks.
