Race of Saints

It's a taste of Italy in one Lackawanna County community this weekend.  Jessup's annual "Race of the Saints" steps off Saturday, May 28, around 5:30 p.m.  The tradition has been around off and on in this community since the early 1900s. Three Saints including St. Ubaldo, St. Anthony and St. George are carried through the town as apart of this race.   Newswatch 16's Ryan Leckey popped by St. Ubaldo Cultural Center to learn more about the history behind this traditional trek.

The "Race of the Saints" is just one of two big holiday happenings in Jessup this weekend.  The other is Jessup Hose Company #2's annual carnival.  It runs through Memorial Day and raises funds to help the fire department purchase life-saving technology.
