FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP -- The driver of a van that collided with a bus earlier this month in Carbon County has died.

According to the Lehigh County coroner, William M. Pomrink, 32, of Lehighton died Saturday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest.

Investigators said Pomrink was driving a van that crossed over the center lines on Route 209 near Weissport and hit a Carbon County Community Transit bus on May 4. A passenger in the bus, Herbert Farenkoff, 60, of Kunkletown was killed. The driver of the bus and another passenger were not badly hurt.

Family members said Pomrink was on his way back to his family farm less than a mile away at the time of the crash.

Police have not said what led to the crash but said wet roads were not to blame.
