The Newswatch 16 Morning Team was cookin' for a cause recently in Scranton. Tom, Mindi, Ryan & Joe stopped by St. Francis of Assisi Kitchen along Penn Avenue to help prepare the daily lunch alongside a dozen plus volunteers. Here, the team learned what it takes to whip-up this meal with meaning that serves around 200 people everyday for lunch 365 days a year.
If our team can do it, just about anybody has the ability to lend a hand at places including St. Francis or other kitchens like it across Northeastern & Central Pennsylvania. We're putting the challenge out there to encourage more volunteers to to signup. Even businesses that can lend their employees for a few hours one morning just one day a year could also make a difference.
Since many kitchens operate morning hours it's best to contact them before 1 p.m.
