RUSH TOWNSHIP -- Human bones were discovered along the Susquehanna River in Northumberland County Tuesday night.

That's the finding of investigators who were back at the scene Wednesday.

The remains were discovered Tuesday night along the Susquehanna River near Riverside.

A forensic anthropology team from Mercyhurst University in Erie was there Wednesday to examine the scene.

They confirm the remains are from an adult.

They are now comparing the DNA from the bones to the DNA of a person who went missing in Columbia County in January.

Authorities say it could months to make a positive identification.

“Authorities say it could months to make a positive identification.” Abby on NCIS can get it done in less than an hour. (Sorry, can’t make jokes about a CBS program on an ABC website.”
