Local Teacher Leaving for Polar Expedition April 20

COAL TOWNSHIP -- A teacher in Northumberland County will soon embark on her expedition to study in the arctic.

Kelly McCarthy teaches math and science at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional High School near Shamokin.

She was selected by NASA and a group called PolarTREC to study ice sheets in Greenland.

McCarthy tells Newswatch 16 she and 14 other teachers are expected to deploy on April 20.

Over the course of the trip, McCarthy will spend almost an entire month in an airplane over the arctic.

    Why????? you are going to be flying around in a plane all day…..hopefully no school district tax payer money is being used for this nonsense…..gee then you can come home and fill all your kids heads with mush about climate change…..
