WILKES-BARRE -- With new improvements coming to the Mall at Steamtown in Scranton, do people in other areas think their malls could use some upgrades?

The parking lot of the Wyoming Valley Mall in Luzerne County is plenty full for a weekday afternoon.

Across the way at the Arena Hub Plaza, there is also a lot of foot traffic   but do people here think the shopping areas offer enough choices?

"I mean, I like it and I think it's fine," said Jayne Novinski of Buck Township. "They have a Penney's, Bon Ton, Macy's. I'm originally from New York so I am used to Roosevelt Fields which is a big mall, but I am satisfied here."

With new improvements and upgrades coming at the Mall at Steamtown in Scranton, and word that Sears, a major anchor store at the Viewmont Mall, is closing,  we asked people who shop at or near the Wyoming Valley Mall if they would like to see something new and different in their own backyard.

"I really see a variety of everything," said John Campano of White Haven. "There are enough restaurants and enough stores, new stores would always, well my wife would always love that."

While some people we spoke to think there are enough stores between the Arena Hub and the Wyoming Valley Mall, other shoppers we spoke with think a little upgrade could be just what this place needs.

Patti Williams from Mountain Top usually does her shopping in Luzerne County but thinks if stores don't step up, people might step out to other areas.

"Just a little bit more of a variety and not the same old things," said Williams. "Something more casual but upscale, too. You have to have different things for different people."

"Business, you got to keep up with it," said Mykala Gillespie of Kingston."I think we need some new stores. I mean, I barely go there. I only go to American Eagle and Pac Sun in there."

Newswatch 16 reached out to marketing directors at the Wyoming Valley Mall. There is no word if this mall has anything new or different planned  to keep the shoppers interested.
