SCRANTON -- Lackawanna County agencies that help victims of abuse are getting $1.2 million in state money to help with their efforts.

The head of Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency was at the Lackawanna County Courthouse on Wednesday to announce the money for the Women's Resource Center in Scranton and the Lackawanna County District Attorney's office.

"Last year alone in Lackawanna County, it was 1,627 of our neighbors, sister,s and friends and 218 in Susquehanna County. People just like you and me who have been victimized," said Margaret Ruddy with the Women's Resource Center.

The money will also help get Spanish-speaking interpreters for the center and the district attorney's office.
