BRIAR CREEK TOWNSHIP -- Modest arrangements for a larger than life figure in the Berwick Area.

George Curry died Friday morning after complications from Lou Gehrig's Disease. Curry was 71 years old.

The visitation at Saint Mary's Church in Briar Creek Township will last only two hours, from 9 a.m. to 11 am., with the funeral service immediately following.

Curry was the most successful high school football coach in Pennsylvania history, with 455 wins over more than forty years at Berwick and Wyoming Valley West.

Curry's published obituary said he dedicated his life to god first, family second, and football third.

Following the funeral, family and friends are invited to what's called a celebration of George Curry's life at Saint Mary's Parish Center.

Because so many Berwick School District faculty members and employees wanted to attend Monday morning's service, Berwick Schools are closed for the day.
