DUNMORE -- To Pennsylvania, Berwick football coach George Curry was a legendary leader, a master of formations and a student of the game.
To Dunmore High School Coach Jack Henzes, Curry was also a friend.
"I think George right now has a pad, he is working on some things to maybe play some games later on," said Henzes.
Not only did Curry lead his players to championships, Henzes adds he also set them up to succeed off the field.
"Wins are important, but I think the most important thing about George Curry is what he did for the young men who played for him."
"He was really a great competitor," said retired coach Frank Pazzaglia. "We were great friends, but we were also great competitors."
Former Valley View and Mid Valley Coach Frank Pazzaglia faced off against Curry for decades, matching up against Curry's innovative plays.
"What was it like to coach against him? Well, it was a challenge, that is for sure. Coach Curry was very well prepared. He did his homework, and he was very, very creative," Pazzaglia recalled.
Off the field, Curry was known for his dedication to family and for his deep religious faith.
"He liked a little fishing, to be honest, he did enjoy that, his whole life really was his family and football."
Bulldogs as a breed are known for their loyalty. The same can be said for the Berwick Bulldogs legendary coach.
