DALLAS --  Thursday marks C.A.S.U.A.L. Day across Pennsylvania.

C.A.S.U.A.L. stands for Colon Cancer Awareness Saves Unlimited Adult Lives.

The Northeast Regional Cancer Institute's 13th annual C.A.S.U.A.L. Day is meant to help raise awareness for colorectal cancer and teach individuals the importance of screening and early detection.

Last week, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives declared March 31, 2016 as C.A.S.U.A.L. Day across the state of Pennsylvania at the State Capitol.

Representative Karen Boback joined the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute at Misericordia University Thursday to talk about the importance of the designation.

Misericordia University has more than 100 members who participate in the C.A.S.U.A.L. campaign by purchasing t-shirts and pins and sharing information about the disease with others.

Money raised through the campaign will stay in northeast Pennsylvania, and a portion will be used to provide colorectal screenings for low-income and underinsured people.
