Nesquehoning Police Officer Fired

NESQUEHONING -- A police officer in Carbon County, involved in a deadly crash in 2014,  has been fired.

Nesquehoning Borough Council voted Wednesday night to terminate Stephen Homanko immediately.

Homanko is charged with homicide for a crash on Route 209 that killed a woman from Lehighton and injured her husband.

Homanko is accused of driving his police cruiser more than 100 miles per hour when he hit the other car

He still faces trial for the crash in Carbon County.
