WILKES-BARRE -- Some members of the Newswatch 16 team spent their Saturday bowling strikes for children in need.

Tom and Noreen Clark, Scott Schaffer, and Jim Coles were just a few of the dozens of people taking part in the annual Bowl for Kids Sake Bowl-a-thon at Stanton Lanes in Wilkes-Barre.  Newswatch 16's Kristina Papa represented WNEP at the event in central Pennsylvania.

Bowlers took pledges to participate in the Bowl-a-thon.  Money raised supports Big Brothers, Big Sisters programs.

"It's really great to see this many people come out and support the children who benefit having a mentor in their lives." said Tanya Olaviany, the director of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.  "The proceeds for Bowl for Kids allow us to screen and train the volunteers, assess the children and put the matches together."
