PITTSTON -- An exhibit in Luzerne County paid tribute to a man from Pittston who became known around the world after he died--for writing his own obituary.
After he passed away in 2014, Kevin McGroarty's self-authored witty obituary went viral.
An exhibit of his art is now on display at the Pittston Memorial Library through March 12.
There are items for sale and raffles.
The goal is to raise $10,000 to create a permanent scholarship at McGroarty's alma mater, Luzerne County Community College.
"People are still commenting on it. Women are still sending him marriage proposals. But the impact Kevin had with the obituary he wrote himself, knowing his health was failing, he wanted to leave us with a last laugh," said organizer Juanita Krieger.
Friends say McGroarty was a man of many talents, with accomplishments in art, music, and advertising.
