WYALUSING TOWNSHIP --  An EF-1 tornado touched down Wednesday night in the Wyalusing area near Route 6 and Locust Road, according to the National Weather Serviced.

Butch Chamberlin knew from the start that it was a tornado that destroyed his shed and uprooted his trees.

"We get a lot of wind," said Chamberlin. "We're used to the wind up here. But it had to be a tornado the way it twisted around."

As family and friends helped with the cleanup, the national weather service was on-hand in Bradford County near Wyalusing. They determined that it was an EF-1 tornado that touched down here.

The National Weather Service estimates winds reached 100 mph, which would help explain how a piece of roof wrapped around a tree.

"What was interesting was you had hardwood tress snapped off," said Dave Nicosia of the NWS. "It takes a lot of force to snap off a hardwood tree. So that gives me 100 mph winds."

Butch Chamberlin's niece lives right around the corner and her family's home was a little luckier, as trees toppled entirely around her home.

"I had a friend say I think your dad [who passed away] put a bubble on your house because if you look at the trees, they very well could've hit my house," said VanDeMark. "But the big tree went toward Route 6 and we got fortunate."

According to the Bradford County EMA, no one was hurt from the tornado.
